Vintage Book Page Poison Bottles

7

Transform discarded, damaged books and ordinary glass bottles into a collection of vintage poison apothecary jars. This project is perfect for adding a subtle, literary touch of Halloween to your bookshelves, mantels, or desk spaces. The texture of aged paper combined with classic gothic typography creates a highly detailed, intellectual aesthetic that feels both scholarly and sinister.

Select a few empty glass bottles, such as wine, oil, or medicine bottles. Tear pages from an old, damaged book into irregular shapes with feathered edges. Coat the back of the paper pieces with Mod Podge and adhere them to the bottles, layering them slightly to cover the glass entirely. Once dry, apply a thin wash of brown watercolor or watered-down acrylic paint over the paper to give it an uneven, aged parchment look. Use a black calligraphy pen or printable vintage poison labels to add names like “Arsenic,” “Nightshade,” or “Elixir of Doom” to the front of each bottle, finishing with a coat of matte sealant.
