17. Clay Monsters with Loose Parts

17

Encourage open-ended sensory exploration with a playdough or clay monster building station. This activity focuses on the process of creating rather than a specific final product, allowing toddlers to experiment freely with shapes, textures, and structures. Squeezing, poking, and pulling clay is excellent for strengthening hand muscles and developing fine motor skills.

Provide your toddler with a large ball of brightly colored playdough or air-dry clay. Set out a muffin tin filled with various loose parts, such as colorful pipe cleaners, googly eyes, buttons, beads, cut-up straws, and feathers. Let your toddler push these items into the clay to build unique, three-dimensional monsters. If using air-dry clay, you can let their creations dry completely to keep as festive little sculptures.
