7. Oversized Chicken Wire Yard Specters
For a truly artistic and spine-chilling yard display, sculpt life-sized, translucent ghosts out of galvanized chicken wire. Using a roll of flexible wire mesh, carefully mold the material around a mannequin, a friend, or your own body to create the shape of a hollow, floating human figure. Pay special attention to creating flowing, dress-like skirts and outstretched, reaching arms. Because the wire is nearly invisible from a distance, these statues look like eerie, transparent apparitions floating across your lawn, especially when placed under the shade of mature trees. To make them stand out at night, position a blue or green outdoor spotlight at the base of each figure to catch the metallic edges of the wire.
