4. Distressed Wooden Board Zombie Barricades
Give your home the appearance of a post-apocalyptic shelter defending against a zombie invasion with realistic faux-wood window barricades. Instead of using heavy, expensive lumber, you can easily craft these using lightweight insulation foam boards or reclaimed pallet wood. Distress the edges of the boards using a wire brush or sandpaper, and paint them with various shades of brown, grey, and black acrylic paint to mimic weathered, aged wood. Use a dry brush technique to add faux dirt and grime. Mount these boards diagonally across your front windows or porch railings using damage-free hanging strips. For an extra touch of horror, paint a few bloody handprints across the boards or drape them with tattered, blood-splattered cheesecloth.
