3. Egg Carton Bat Hanging Decor
Give your egg cartons a second life with this eco-friendly and adorable hanging bat craft. This activity is fantastic for teaching kids about recycling while letting them explore their artistic side with paint and scissors. These bats look wonderful hanging in clusters from tree branches, chandeliers, or curtain rods, swaying gently in the autumn breeze to create a playful, spooky atmosphere.
Cut an empty cardboard egg carton into sections of three cups. Help your child trim the bottom edges of the outer two cups to look like pointed bat wings, leaving the center cup intact as the bat’s head and body. Let your child paint the entire piece with black acrylic or tempera paint. Once the paint is completely dry, glue on two googly eyes and draw a tiny, fanged smile with a white paint marker or silver gel pen. Thread a piece of black yarn through the top of the center cup, and your bats are ready to take flight around your home.
