12. Rock Painted Jack-o’-Lanterns
Rock painting is a timeless craft that kids of all ages enjoy, and turning smooth river stones into mini Jack-o’-Lanterns is a wonderful way to celebrate Halloween. These painted rocks are incredibly durable, making them perfect for hiding around your neighborhood to spread holiday cheer, or for placing in your garden as a long-lasting autumn display.
Gather smooth, flat rocks from outdoors and wash them thoroughly to remove any dirt. Paint each rock with a bright, solid coat of orange acrylic paint; it may take two coats for full coverage. Once dry, use a black permanent marker or black paint to draw a variety of classic pumpkin faces—some silly, some scary, and some sweet. You can add a little green paint at the top for a stem.
