18. Paper Bag Monster Puppets

18

Encourage imaginative storytelling and dramatic play with Paper Bag Monster Puppets. This craft is double the fun because the creation process is followed by hours of puppet shows and creative play. Using simple paper lunch bags, kids can design monsters with moving mouths, allowing them to bring their spooky characters to life with funny voices and stories.

Using a standard brown or white paper lunch bag, the folded bottom tab of the bag will serve as the monster’s face and mouth. Let your child paint the bag in bright, wild colors or cover it with patterned paper. Glue large eyes, silly teeth, and long tongues under the folded flap so they are revealed when the puppet “talks.” Kids can add yarn hair, pipe-cleaner horns, and paper arms to the sides of the bag. Once dry, they can slip their hand inside and put on a spooky Halloween puppet show for the family.
