5. Pinecone Spider Buddies

5

Take a nature walk in the crisp autumn air to gather pinecones for this rustic and charming Pinecone Spider Buddies craft. Combining outdoor exploration with indoor crafting is a fantastic way to spend a fall afternoon. These little spiders are friendly rather than frightening, making them a hit with younger children who might be intimidated by scarier Halloween decorations.

Once you have collected your pinecones, make sure they are clean and dry. Cut brown or black pipe cleaners in half to create the spider’s legs. Wrap four pipe cleaners around the center of the pinecone, bending them on each side to create eight jointed legs that allow the spider to stand up. Use a generous amount of craft glue to attach several googly eyes of varying sizes to the front of the pinecone. Kids can get creative by adding glitter, colorful legs, or even tiny paper fangs to give their new spider buddies unique personalities.
