2. Mason Jar Mummy Lanterns
Transform ordinary glass jars into spooky, glowing mummy lanterns that make the perfect centerpiece for a Halloween dining table or front porch display. This craft is incredibly forgiving for young children because mummies are supposed to look messy and wrapped up. Kids love the hands-on process of wrapping the jars, and the end result is a highly functional piece of holiday decor that looks stunning when illuminated from within.
For this project, you will need clean glass jars, mod podge or liquid school glue, gauze bandages or white crepe paper, and googly eyes. Have your child paint a layer of glue all over the glass jar, then wrap the gauze around and around until the glass is mostly covered. Leave a few small gaps for the light to shine through. Glue a pair of large, mismatched googly eyes peeking out from between the bandages. Once dry, place a battery-operated LED tea light inside to watch your friendly little mummy come to life with a soft, eerie glow.
