13. Grim Reaper Silhouette Window Shades
Give your neighbors a thrill with easy-to-make silhouette window shades that come to life at night. Using large sheets of black poster board, heavy butcher paper, or black foam board, draw and cut out large, dramatic silhouettes of classic Halloween figures, such as a towering Grim Reaper, a cackling witch over a cauldron, or giant, creeping spiders. Tape these silhouettes directly onto the inside of your window panes.
During the day, the black shapes blend subtly with the glass, but at night, when you turn on the lights inside the room, the silhouettes stand out in sharp, terrifying contrast against the glowing windows. To make the effect even more dramatic, place smart light bulbs or colored spotlights behind the silhouettes, casting an eerie green, purple, or orange glow onto the street, turning your home into a neighborhood attraction.
