14. Rotten Deviled Eggs
Give classic deviled eggs a creepy, gothic makeover that will be the talk of the lunchroom. To achieve the “rotten” look, gently crack the shells of hard-boiled eggs all over without peeling them. Submerge the cracked eggs in water dyed with blue and green food coloring, or natural blueberry juice, and let them steep in the refrigerator for several hours. When you peel the eggs, they will feature an intricate, web-like marble pattern of eerie colors. Slice the eggs in half, mash the yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, and a touch of avocado to turn the filling a bright, swampy green. Pipe the green filling back into the marbled egg whites and garnish with a sprinkle of paprika or a slice of black olive.
