5. Beginner Level: Simple Mugs

Overview

Everyone loves a custom mug! They make excellent gifts and are a wonderful beginner project that allows for personal expression.

Steps

  1. Roll a slab of clay to your desired thickness.
  2. Cut out two rectangles for the mug body, then measure a circular piece for the bottom.
  3. Score and slip where the pieces will join, and shape them into a cylinder.
  4. Create a handle by rolling a coil and attaching it securely.
  5. Fire and glaze as desired.
