Overview

Coil pots utilize one of the oldest pottery techniques known. It’s perfect for those who have a little familiarity with clay but want to venture into more complex forms.

Steps

  1. Roll out several long, thin coils of clay.
  2. Start with a flat base and stack coils on top of one another, merging them at the seams.
  3. Use your fingers or a smoothing tool to blend the joints for a cohesive look.
  4. Experiment with different heights and shapes.
  5. Once complete, let it dry before firing and glazing.
