14. Tar-Dripped Apothecary Jars
Add a rugged, toxic, and industrial edge to your Halloween decor with tar-dripped apothecary jars. This project mimics the look of hazardous, sealed containers from an old laboratory or abandoned factory. Start with clear glass jars of various shapes. To create the look of dripping black tar, you can use black hot glue, puffy paint, or a mixture of black acrylic paint and glossy Mod Podge. Drip the thick black substance generously around the rim and neck of the jars, allowing it to run down the glass in thick, uneven droplets. Once dry, the “tar” will have a glossy, heavy appearance. Fill the jars with faux specimens, dark liquid, or battery-operated green fairy lights to make them look like they are glowing with radioactive or mystical energy.
